” Mystery Continues ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

” So, the mystery continues… I am still trying to figure out what’s so special about those blocks of flats to me. I think it comes from my childhood. See, I didn’t use to go out a lot when I was a kid. I was basically living my whole life in my beloved flat most of the time, and I really liked it. I was enjoying outside activities at my grandparents at the weekends, but that was it. Five days a week, I was sitting at my home playing games, watching telly and playing with my toys, all the time (except for when I had to go out to school, obviously; which I wasn’t really fond of…). I totally loved my childhood, by the way. Hah~!! I was just reading it over out loud and I realised that my current adult life resembles the one from my childhood almost identically… wow… It looks I haven’t moved in life at all… Anyway, I was spending my life in tight enclosed spaces most of the time, so this might be one of the reasons. The second one I have figured out is probably connected with my lone style of life. See, I don’t have many friends you know. To tell the truth, I don’t have any at the moment. I had two best friends a long time ago, but they are… out there in the world somewhere now. So I think, I really enjoy being around people, even though I don’t like 98% of them. I am leading a solitary boring life, so it makes me feel nice being in places where life just lives the normal way, you know? I am pretty sure it all adds up to itself. Childhood nostalgia, loneliness, love of being outside, taking something back as a souvenir and probably so much more… All that is the reason why I enjoy doing what I do so much, and it explains a lot why I am being so attracted to those places… I feel like I am at home, even though the real one is far far away sometimes. I feel I belong between those tall buildings (inside and on top of them too!). It’s a truly magical experience for me every time I go out there. I just wish I had someone to share those moments with… Just that one person I could take with me and get lost in time… “

” Just Another Oh Rama ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” Just another casual day… just another rama… Mr Oh Rama Panorama. Yup, it truly is as cool as it looks. A giant boob you can climb on and look at the city from above. Eh… I wish I could be there now. I would lie down on the grass and look at those lazy white clouds flying by… It is magnificent. You know it, I know it. Nobody can deny it. I just wish I could see some giant elfish trees growing out from the centre of the city. It would be awesome. Damn… now this is the place and time where photo manipulation could come handy. You can’t have it all I guess + it wouldn’t be a photograph any more. I returned to this place later that day, hopefully to capture a beautiful sundown… Unfortunately, some low ass clouds had their own plans, and they have ruined the show by blocking everything that was supposed to be interesting. I guess it was not my day nor the time for me to capture it properly. I really enjoyed that journey. Even though I started it with getting a ticket for doing some crazy and totally unnecessary shit on the road, being still on the premises of my own city… I really thought this incident will jinx everything that day… But I have fought my mind furiously to stay positive and still drain happiness from the trip. Despite a bad start and 400km drive… I really loved it. I just wish I could bring some more photographs from that city… But hey… I guess this is all what I was meant to bring home with me, and I am grateful I have not returned empty-handed. “

” It Does Not Matter ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” It does not matter…. You do not need a great looking panorama, mountains, rivers, seas and oceans… There is no need for an open sky with a beautiful palette of warm colours from the sun. All you really need is… just yourself. It is you who can create the reality that surrounds you. You have got the power to feel what you want to feel. It doesn’t take much to trigger a chain of positive feelings about something. It takes time to learn how to do it, but once you learn it, it’s like riding a bike. Sometimes, it is triggered by external factors like: the sun, warm breeze, long shadows, or just a random place. It can be anything really. Once you learn to be “sensitive”, you may get triggered unexpectedly by simple things, the little ones; like a smell, or the way someone looked at you. Other times, you have to put in some effort, think about some positive things and chain them manually, creating greater and greater feeling of happiness. Me personally, I love those random encounters that make me feel special and so happy, even though I know they do not last for very long. As for the manual chaining those little happy things into a bigger and more steady state of happiness… Well, I treat it as my plan B, a handy tool to get me out of the darker moments of my thinking. Can you see this photograph? It was one of those random encounters, triggered totally unexpectedly, just by being there. It feels a little bit like jumping into a pool. You just step into it. You go, everything is normal, and at some point you just stop. You start noticing that it feels different in this particular place. There is some kind of unexplained energy beaming from it, and it feels amazing. You just stand there and can’t move, well you can, but you do not want to. Everything feels so beautiful… Warm sun, amazing shadows, even the texture of an old and broken pavement looks out of this world. It just… I don’t know… It feels like my mind is breaching the boundaries of what you can perceive with normal senses. It is addictive. Every time I go for another walk with my camera, I quietly wish to feel that again. I think… I have managed to capture some of it… in this photograph. Please, have a look. “

” State Of Cosiness ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Every place has got a history behind it… Every mark has got its own meaning… but WHAT THE FOCK HAS HAPPENED HERE~?! Oh well, it must have been something if I had taken out my camera and took some shots of it, right? Damn right it is something ~!! It might not be the most cosy place you could have imagined, but I am still in a strong opinion that it is a beautiful and unique view. In a world where everything strives to be perfect, nice and spotless… this stands out and shouts in your face… FUCK YOU AND YOUR PERFECT WORLD MATE~!! And you know what…? I like it. I love it. I just wish I could see and experience every single moment that has scarred this place with its own uniqueness. I would love to feel that anger, hate, love, excitement and everything else that has caused this place to look the way it looks now. It is truly a rare view nowadays… It might not be the prettiest, it doesn’t try to be something it is not, I agree… but it feels real… Real enough to keep you wonder about the rest of the world packed with lies and masks that try to cover your eyes with something that is not really there… So if you ask me, what do I see in this wretched place? My answer would be… Everything that you cannot my dear… because your eyes are not used to see what is real any more. Every single mark is connected to a strong emotional feeling that has occurred at some point in past. It almost feels like a giant raw database, a CD full of music you cannot really hear, a pack of files on a memory stick you cannot read… A secret message that is not to be decoded or understood… merely felt and forgotten… “

” Peak Peek ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” The world… what a playground… You can be whoever you want, do whatever you want, yet most of us stay where we are and do what we do, unable to change the course of destination. It is not so big as we think it is, the world I mean, yet it is big enough. I don’t know… I think I like it. There is so much to discover about it, so many nice places to visit, experience, understand… I love looking at it from above. It feels like a mini-map in a game where I look where I should go next. I look at the horizon and I want to be there… I want to climb another tall building, look far ahead and be there… and be there, and be there, never stop exploring, never stop breathing in its beauty and complexity. Every corner hides a secret, a never-ending journey of surprises, full of treasures to be discovered. Sun, rain, clouds, snow, fog, day, night, morning, afternoon, evening, summer, winter, spring, autumn… So many varieties… Each one of them making the very same place look different, every time you see it… Not to mention the different combination of them together. Isn’t it wonderful? The world can be what we want it to be… it is our playground, we should shape it into whatever we wish for. It acts like a tough cookie to bite on, but once you are true to your needs and yourself… it bends to your will like a freshly boiled noodle. Don’t be afraid to show what you want, go out there, stay true and look how it bends to your knees, giving you exactly what you wanted… “

” On The Verge Of Change ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” I really like that particular time you know… The sun is almost gone, people returning home, members of families finally together again… it is a happy time. It’s bright enough to still call it a day, but you can already feel it in air, night is close. The first cool breeze has already started gently pushing you around, but it is still nice, nothing unpleasant. I am standing on the verge of change, admiring everything that surrounds me… I have doubts. Why am I standing here and looking at the life from above, why am I not a part of it… what is the meaning behind it? Am I a god? Dangerously balancing on the edge of inevitable, the point of no return, I observe and try to understand my role in all this. Am I risking too much? I wonder how it feels to be down there, living casual normal life. You know… a wife, kids, job you hate, and everything else that adds up to its entertaining uniqueness. Soon, almost everything will disappear under the blanket of night. It is a matter of minutes now, when the clouds will swallow the sun completely. I can’t get enough of it, it’s beautiful… I want to soak in it. I want every inch of my body to get saturated with its splendour. I am tired, I am tired of it all. I want to exist just in moments like those, I don’t want anything less. It looks like the horizon is bending already, will the rest of the world follow it? “

” Out Of Place ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited )

” Poor little thing… It has been looking for its place for so long… so hard too. After years of fruitless wanders, it had finally resigned and let all what was left from its hope go. There was no point holding on to it any more, the fight was over, a loss without much pain. In the long run, it finally got used to its sub-dreamed life, and I even dare to say… it was quite happy for a while. The small but important part was still missing, but it was okay, it wasn’t so bad, it could live without it. One day, totally out of the blue, this great opportunity came along, out of nowhere, really… It was persistent, believable, full of energy and faith… It was fighting so fiercely, with so much heart and passion… Eventually, it gave it a chance… nobody has ever made it feel so special before after all… It was the best thing that has ever happened to the poor thing. Unfortunately, everything beautiful that has come with the opportunity, has also dragged everything out that’s ugly from the poor bastard. It has faced challenges it has never even dreamt about, and even though it tried its best to cooperate with all of them… Ultimately, it has failed to win the most important ones. The beautiful opportunity has decided to walk away at the end of the day, and the poor thing… Well, with its life half-changed for something greater that has never come… it has been left hanging… slightly out of place. The old wall is no more, and the new one… may never come. It feels uncomfortable, cold and lonely. I guess it’s all what it has got now… Another loss, dead end, defeat… this time bloody painful. “

” Jungle Warfare ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Concrete versus plants… It is nice to see, that those green creatures, still have something to say in today’s world of industrialisation. Even though, they utilise mainly guerrilla warfare, popping here and there, they are still visible and cannot be ignored. Another thing, that really pleases me is, they have a great number of supporters, who help them a lot. It is kind of ironic, that in the past the plants were giving us shelter and peace, but now… we are the ones who protect them, and unfortunately, it is us… we are protecting them from. This particular photograph, reminds me of a jungle, where all plants try to get as high as possible in order to get more sun. This only shows, that whatever we do, we are still part of one family with nature. Whatever we do, nature had already done it, long time before us. Nature doesn’t need our protection, if it dies, we go down along with it, simple as that. I hope it will never come to this… It doesn’t need us to survive, but we on the other hand, can’t exist without it. We need to learn how to embrace it, instead of exploiting it… Symbiosis or extinction, which one will we choose? “

” Settlers ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” It is funny how people stick together. There is so much space, yet they choose to live next to each other. Of course it is more convenient and practical, but the truth is, almost nobody wants to live alone. We like the presence of the fellow species around us. We don’t have to like them, nor interact with them. The mere idea of knowing, that they are living somewhere nearby, is very comforting for us. We settle, live and create the world around us. Plain grounds, stop being flat and monotonous, we change things, adjust them to our needs. After a while, beautiful towns, cities and villages, emerge from the mutual symbiosis. I just wish, we could learn how to live in a better harmony with nature. After all, we are only tenants… and one day, we might get kicked out of here, if we do not learn how to behave and respect our great landlord… “

” Cloud Ticklers ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Boy oh boy… Does everything look so freaking amazing from above? Is it because we do not experience it from down below? I do not know… but sure as hell it looks great! Same old, boring places, now look like a new and undiscovered realm of magic, awaiting to be explored and conquered. From this point of view, you can make it, what you want it to be… Dragons, elves, castles in clouds, enchanted forests with unseen creatures hiding within or perhaps a futuristic city, where cars are gliding and hovering above the ground… The choice is yours, close your eyes for a second, take a deep breath and create your own reality. Lie yourself for a moment, mix what you see with what you cannot, adding things you would love to see in the blank spaces. How would your city look like? Maybe, once you come back down… it will look like you have imagined it… “
