” Industrial Beauty ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

” It is one of those pieces… One of those pieces that nobody understands… Hesitation… should I delete it and move on looking for something more popularly likeable? No Chan, you shouldn’t. Trust your instinct. You were browsing photographs and something clicked right away when you saw it for the first time. That’s pure, something real, genuine beauty in its raw form. Keep it. So I did. It’s really hard to explain what I love about it without giving my own eyes and mind to someone else to experience it my way. Though I shall do my best and try to explain it. Let’s start with the major things first. Light and shade, both living in mutual respect, both perfectly completing each other. There is a beautiful bright and happy sky on the upper part, there is also not so happy darker shaded area at the bottom. They give this balanced and complete look of it. You also cannot not notice those four beautiful chrome chimneys… All shiny and glittering in the sun. An amazing reflection of them on the nearby wall, awesome green grass at the bottom left corner, billowy clouds above, branches… There is so much going on, so many things to look at… It’s cosy… It’s one of those special places. I call them ‘magical spots’. You just want to stand there and enjoy everything that surrounds you. It makes you so happy, full of appreciation and energy to live. It is also very hard to capture it. I keep looking at it, and I can’t believe I almost deleted it… I love it so much. Those colours and tint… Everything just ads up to itself creating this Industrial Beauty. Things like that gets me going another hours, days, weeks worth of pure walking… Just to find another one of those magical spots… “

” Handsome Fellow ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” A Handsome Fellow waiting for his new girl outside her home. This is the first time they are going to see each other in person. They have known each other for more than a year but they have never met in real life before. He is very calm on the outside but a little bit stressed on the inside. He wants to make a nice first impression after all. It is somewhat funny. They both know exactly who they are going to meet, but it is still so exciting and somehow enigmatic. He has an intention of making this meeting a very special one. A highly sophisticated list of things to do together is charmingly troubling his soft mind. He wasn’t too nice for her many times in past. Not that he didn’t like her, but to keep distance and to keep his head clear. After so much wasted time, so many nice opportunities missed, he finally decided to gave it a shot. Despite all the negative things and the lack of mutual interests, he can’t be sure that she is not meant for him. She’s won. She will finally learn the truth the hard way. It should be such a nice journey, the weather is just right. Not too hot, not too cold. Wind present, but not pushy. And clouds… the clouds are surely magnificent today; big, heavy and so billowy… just the way he loves them. He’s afraid. He’s frightened to the bone of not being good enough once again. He’s scared of wasting what’s left of his emotions on the wrong person. How can she be the right one? She looks okay, she’s quite smart too, but what about some crucial things like passion, mutual things they would both like. There are literally no things that would hold them together except for fucking… and that… you can find just anywhere… Oh dear… he’s hesitating again. Torn apart between what he thinks is right and what if he is mistaken… He needs that hug so much, but what if it is just another trap… What if it will only hurt him and force to leave another piece of his heart in the wrong place… He whispers: ” She isn’t real, I can’t make her real… ” He turns around and walks away, repeating ” She isn’t real, there’s no one for me here… ” “

” Dusty Hill ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” I saw that hill before… Unfortunately at that time I was unable to climb it and check what is there that’s hiding from me. I kept looking at it from down below with great curiosity. I knew I would come back here and find out what’s on top of it one day; it was just a matter of time. Not so long after, a few months perhaps, there I was… standing again and looking at it… The pros and cons running through my mind… The decision is made. I am going up. I crossed the road and started climbing it. It’s much higher than I thought it was. I started running. I want it now. I want to see what’s on top of it and I don’t want to wait any longer. I am getting tired. It is much much higher than it looks like from back down. And that wind… the higher I climb the stronger it gets. I start running again. My body produces tremendous amount of heat. I can feel my legs getting all swollen up from all the blood being pumped to muscles. I am walking and sweating. I can feel wind piercing my body. Will I get ill afterwards? Will the wind get me? I run again. My jeans are so tight they will burst any minute now. I keep wondering; how is it possible that my legs got so fat so quick. It feels like they have been hiding their real potential from me. The moment I checked the jeans on my thighs was also the moment I noticed all the mud around me. The soil was wet. What the hell… It was so dry back down. There’s an endless field on my left and right. The only thing that separates me from all this muddy hell is a very narrow path of grass I have been running up the hill. Unfortunately I have also found out that I am not safe even here… With every step I was taking, a big cloud of dirty muddy dust was arising from the grass… I was trapped. I was somewhere in the middle of my way to the top… my boots and the lower part of jeans were dirty, grey and white from all that dust I have been kicking around for the last couple of minutes… The moment of great regret grasped me hard and squeezed painfully. Stupid… so stupid; I thought. Who in their right minds would run up some big ass hill just to find out the view… I was seriously thinking of making my way back down, but what was the point? I would have to go back the same way and giving up now didn’t make any sense. I started running up again, occasionally looking down, only to find out how it hurts my soul seeing all that dust flying on my boots and jeans… Finally I reached the top… There was nothing there… The hill was just flat… and behind it… there was just mud… endless fields of mud… I remembered that one tree I had seen from back down. I decided to meet it in person… Unfortunately, the only way to it, was through the mud… It felt like walking through a minefield. I was scared that my next step will be tragic and my boot will get swallowed or something… After short but utterly stressful and careful walk, I reached the tree… We talked for a while… it was nice. I remember running down as quickly as I could just to have the dusty path behind me. I wasn’t happy back then, but now… when I look at my friend from the hill… You tell me, if it was worth it or not… “

” New Year Same Year Every Year ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” I am not gonna lie… I love a New Year’s Eve. I even love it every year. I also hate it, exactly as much as I love it, when the last visible firework fade away in the darkness of night… The short period between two weeks before Christmas and New Year’s Eve, must be my favourite time in a whole year. The energy and the positive aura is amazing. I love to feel that moment when everyone is so focused on their life; preparation, presents, stress and everything else. It feels like everything around me is going at least three times faster than normal, and I just love to observe it from the perspective of my slow and derailed life… People seem to be different at that time as well, I like them that way. The moment when the last firecracker finally disappears from the sky, is also the moment when I get that weird feeling that the clock has been just rested, and everyone is bound to get back to what they have been previously doing, all year round. Another year, another example that your own plans mean nothing to the plans that have been made for you. That night was supposed to be so special, other than all previous ones… Finally someone to share emotions with, a chance to start a new year like never before, but no… I guess it wasn’t meant for me. At least, not just yet. Once again, my life has been adjusted to the path I didn’t choose. Maybe this is what I wanted somewhere deep down… Maybe it saved me from something that wasn’t good for me… Oh well, at least I had a chance to capture this beautiful moment. “

” It Does Not Matter ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” It does not matter…. You do not need a great looking panorama, mountains, rivers, seas and oceans… There is no need for an open sky with a beautiful palette of warm colours from the sun. All you really need is… just yourself. It is you who can create the reality that surrounds you. You have got the power to feel what you want to feel. It doesn’t take much to trigger a chain of positive feelings about something. It takes time to learn how to do it, but once you learn it, it’s like riding a bike. Sometimes, it is triggered by external factors like: the sun, warm breeze, long shadows, or just a random place. It can be anything really. Once you learn to be “sensitive”, you may get triggered unexpectedly by simple things, the little ones; like a smell, or the way someone looked at you. Other times, you have to put in some effort, think about some positive things and chain them manually, creating greater and greater feeling of happiness. Me personally, I love those random encounters that make me feel special and so happy, even though I know they do not last for very long. As for the manual chaining those little happy things into a bigger and more steady state of happiness… Well, I treat it as my plan B, a handy tool to get me out of the darker moments of my thinking. Can you see this photograph? It was one of those random encounters, triggered totally unexpectedly, just by being there. It feels a little bit like jumping into a pool. You just step into it. You go, everything is normal, and at some point you just stop. You start noticing that it feels different in this particular place. There is some kind of unexplained energy beaming from it, and it feels amazing. You just stand there and can’t move, well you can, but you do not want to. Everything feels so beautiful… Warm sun, amazing shadows, even the texture of an old and broken pavement looks out of this world. It just… I don’t know… It feels like my mind is breaching the boundaries of what you can perceive with normal senses. It is addictive. Every time I go for another walk with my camera, I quietly wish to feel that again. I think… I have managed to capture some of it… in this photograph. Please, have a look. “

” Interstellar Suspension ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” The clouds froze right in front of my eyes, I could feel air getting thicker and thicker… My body started to feel like it was suspended in water. The change… I could feel it so clearly… Stars aligned, galaxies in a perfect harmony. That moment of an incredible slowdown… Like a bullet caught in a ballistic gelatine, everything stopped in a blink of an eye. What now? I didn’t care about anything… I just kept looking in the sky, trying to see things beyond the clouds. My poor human eyes… they were just not enough. I could still feel it though, not to mention being able to admire the beauty of an incredible display on our terrestrial end of the spectrum. I may not fully understand it, but I know how it affects me. I have walked out from the home sad, but now… I am oversaturated with happiness and joy. I still miss that soft hand I could grab when I need it, hug a soul… but for now… I am okay. So I thank the stars and everything that surrounds me, that I may be happy… even though I know, it is just for a short-lived while… “

” Inception Of The Tree Of Life ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” The Tree of Life… What are you doing here all alone, surrounded by all those concrete walls with glassy eyes? You are far away from your place, you must be so lonely… Look what they have done to you… How can you live like that? Constantly drowned in shadows, waiting whole days just for a glimpse of sunshine… it must be unbearable. Hmm… now that sounds awfully familiar… I think I know what keeps you alive, and I am most certainly sure how you must feel. Worry not my dear fellow, you are not alone in this miserable journey. You are beautiful, you know… You might not be in your ideal place in life, but you are truly special, and those who are lucky enough to be in your presence, really do enjoy your magnificence. Lost, but still unique and so uncanny. Have you ever wondered, why are we placed the way we are in our existence? Is it a pure randomness, or is it something entirely greater than that? If it is the first thing… we are truly fucked, aren’t we my friend? Imagine uprooting now, after so many years of wasted life… it can’t be easy, can it? If it is the second option… well, we have some purpose of being in such a position, and we can’t do much about it, except for understanding it, and waiting for the highest point in our lives. I don’t know… this thinking feels too comforting, could it be just a nasty lie? Where do you even seek such an answer? Can you know for sure, once you learn of it? Dear Tree… what is it going to be? Do we really have a chance? Can we really turn things upside down? Look, the sky is already bending to your will… I think we can… “

” Seductive Sticks ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited )

” Flowers… what an amazing example of pure beauty and careful craftsmanship. So innocent, colourful, fragile and seductive… no wonder all bees go crazy about them. I also think, I know why women love them so much… They are not so different from them after all, are they? The thing is, even the most astonishing flower, will never look good, if there is no light shining upon it. Some women are incredibly beautiful… yet they don’t feel that way, because they are living in a shade of other things. All those sensual petals, colourful details and unforgettable scent… All this, just for one reason and one reason alone… A clever programming that keeps everything in check, in perfect order and harmony. A flawless system that keeps the wheel of evolution spinning and spinning. Is breeding really the only thing that keeps us living and dreaming? Do we really share a life of an ordinary bee, looking for our perfect flower, before it gets all wrinkled up and rot away? Do we really have a choice in all this? Was it ever an option? “

” Woody Tiger ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Somewhere deep in an unknown to me forest, there was this old wooden hut. I don’t normally wander in such places, but when I was driving to a another city, I couldn’t help noticing the beauty of the forests around me. I stopped the car and decided to venture a little bit into unknown. I thought only the new cities or towns were able to strike me with such awe and happiness. Boy or girl, how much I was mistaken. The air and the smell alone, were something magical, something I cannot describe with words. I felt like, I need to hug every single tree, stroke grass, cuddle with moss and sing with the birds, just to show my appreciation for everything that surrounds me. And there was this old wooden hut, it looked like nothing special when I was passing it by. When I took another look at it, I couldn’t believe what was hiding behind it. I asked myself what kind of sorcery is this, how is this even possible!? I approached it and it looked even better up close. It looked like the nature stretched her canvas on the back of the hut’s wall years ago, and has been painting there secretly ever since… An enigmatic mixture of snow, rain, frost, wind, sun, wood, heat and time… entrapped in this truly remarkable work of art. “

” Why ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Why do we feel so excited about sunrises and sunsets? Why do we like them so much? Is it the mixture of vibrant colours? Is it because of the illuminated clouds? Why do we think they are so special? Is it the uniqueness we love so much? So many questions, even more thoughts about it. The time when the sun starts going down really fast, is one of my favourite moments in my journeys. When I notice my surroundings are covered in shade, and little to none of the sun is coming through tall buildings and trees, it means it’s time to find a vantage point real quick. I always try to remember nice, tall and accessible buildings I visit on my path, but it doesn’t help much, when they are located a few kilometres away from your current position, especially in a city you do not know. After, at least six hours of constant walking, I am a tad tired, but when this moment comes, I get extra shot of energy and the hunt for a great observation point begins. I am moving extremely fast, trying to spot the tallest nearby block of flats, with its stairwell windows situated in a direction of the vanishing yolk. First, I have to get past an entryphone, then check if the stairwell’s windows open fully, lastly if everything is good, I can climb on the top floor and start the process of capturing. Unfortunately, most of the time there is something in my way… Missing window handle, closed door, blocked view, bad view, window does not open etc. So I rush from building to building, from stairwell to stairwell, in hope that I can make it before it’s too late. I am not going to lie… I have lost many times… but I have also managed to be on time once or twice. Every sunrise and sunset is unique, just like the birth and the death… Maybe this is why we treat them with so many emotions, because they remind us, of our short lived existence… “
