” Industrial Beauty ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

” It is one of those pieces… One of those pieces that nobody understands… Hesitation… should I delete it and move on looking for something more popularly likeable? No Chan, you shouldn’t. Trust your instinct. You were browsing photographs and something clicked right away when you saw it for the first time. That’s pure, something real, genuine beauty in its raw form. Keep it. So I did. It’s really hard to explain what I love about it without giving my own eyes and mind to someone else to experience it my way. Though I shall do my best and try to explain it. Let’s start with the major things first. Light and shade, both living in mutual respect, both perfectly completing each other. There is a beautiful bright and happy sky on the upper part, there is also not so happy darker shaded area at the bottom. They give this balanced and complete look of it. You also cannot not notice those four beautiful chrome chimneys… All shiny and glittering in the sun. An amazing reflection of them on the nearby wall, awesome green grass at the bottom left corner, billowy clouds above, branches… There is so much going on, so many things to look at… It’s cosy… It’s one of those special places. I call them ‘magical spots’. You just want to stand there and enjoy everything that surrounds you. It makes you so happy, full of appreciation and energy to live. It is also very hard to capture it. I keep looking at it, and I can’t believe I almost deleted it… I love it so much. Those colours and tint… Everything just ads up to itself creating this Industrial Beauty. Things like that gets me going another hours, days, weeks worth of pure walking… Just to find another one of those magical spots… “

” Resident Evil ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” Not so far from the city… there is a mansion. The mansion nobody wants to talk about… It’s supposed to be abandoned, but there are many people who claim they have seen bright lights at night multiple times. There are also reports of missing people who have allegedly ventured on its premises. It is uncomfortable and unsettling… it just sits there. Nobody likes it, nobody wants it there, everyone demands some answers about it, but there is simply no one to give them. It feels like an itch you cannot scratch. There are some crazy rumours going on about it as well. There are sources claiming that the building belongs to the Umbrella Corporation; an omnipresent major pharmaceutical company reputed for its evil and ruthless nature, sacrificing anyone and anything in their quest to achieve perfection. To the public, Umbrella is simply the leading provider in technology, medical and healthcare products… But everyone knows that the Umbrella Corporation also supplies viral weaponry across the world and holds considerable clout within the political and business ring. Now the thing I am going to tell you may sound like the talk of a crazy person, but there are some proofs backing up the story of one of the people who have allegedly partially explored the building. That person said that the mansion is just a front for the secret transport link to the Hive; an underground bioweapons research facility located under the city. I know… believe me, I know exactly how it sounds like but… What if I told you that everyone directly connected with the rumour has either emigrated to another country or just disappeared, and there is no one who knows what has really happened with them. Some poor family is still hopelessly fighting Umbrella Corp. in courts, which is allegedly responsible for the disappearance of their son. You may think what you want, but I know there is something not right about this building. It may look just normal to you, but there is too much things going on about it. Hopefully, I will not get into some kind of trouble because of this photograph… If I disappear or suddenly “emigrate” to god knows where… you will know who might be responsible for it. “

” Oranged ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA* 85mm F1.4 [IF] )

” I am always curious of the setting of the sun. Sometimes, it gives you a wild spectrum of weird colours across the sky. Sometimes, it can even make everything around you look like it’s out of this planet. I was lucky enough to witness it a couple of times myself. It is a truly magnificent experience. Everything you look at, is drowned in colours that should not be there. They are unique, magical and makes your jaw drop with awe. Suddenly, you feel like you are somewhere else… like it’s not your planet any more, or the world is ending. Unfortunately, it lasts only minutes, and the sun is gone a short while after… taking this breathtaking visual effect with its departure. The photograph you are looking at, is the beginning of one of those moments. At that time, I didn’t know about it. I thought it’s just a nice sunset, that’s all. So when I shot what I wanted, and I saw the sun getting behind the horizon taking most of the available light with it, I decided to go back home. At about the halfway of my way back, I noticed that colours around me are getting pretty weird. All pink, magenta and purple shades were dancing right in front of my eyes, making everything around me look bizarre. At that point, I realised that I am going to miss out this marvellous occurrence… even worse~!! I was going to miss it with the camera in my hands. I thought to myself; it’s not gonna happen~!! So I started to run, and run hard to the only place that could give me at least a slightest chance to capture this rare beauty of nature. As I was running along, I had those beautiful photographs I wanted to have so bad, right in front of my eyes… Did I get at least one of them? Well, we will see about it… the next weekend… “

” Block Of Cosiness ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Some people grow up in houses, other in blocks of flats, and some in neither… Just like with everything else in life, each one of us prefers different things. Some people value large spaces with high ceilings and plenty of room around. Others on the other hand, feel more comfortable in smaller and tighter areas. I myself grew up living in a flat. I have moved to a house with my parents, much later on. I like it. But if I will ever need to choose where I want to live alone, I am definitely going back to a block of flats. I really don’t know where all the magic aura is coming from, but I suspect it has something to do with my childhood and nostalgia. It’s just a good memories I think. Every time I walk in some city, I get automatically pulled closer to those buildings. It feels like… well, home I guess… I have found this place on my way back to the car. The light, colours, all those plants and flowers… Man oh man… This place was something else… ideal… I mean, actually I prefer them much taller, but to hell with it… just look at that place… How soothing it must be to sit on one of those benches and just listen to birds while looking at the blue sky… I know, you are probably thinking what’s a big deal with it? Well, every time I see such a beauty, I imagine having my own flat in one of those things I admire so much. My own small and super cosy nest, where I could lock myself up, and peak at the world from a safe distance… through a window of the internet. It would be such a joy to be surrounded by all those people and their families. Seeing children happily playing around, hearing loud neighbours living their busy life, smelling different scents of perfumes and cooked food while walking up and down a stairwell. It is quite amusing though, because I am type of a person that really likes to be alone most of the time, but I still love being around people a lot, weird. I had a hard time moving from that place. I really wanted to stay there and see how it looks like at different times of the day, months and even seasons… Even the sun showed me exactly where to stand in order to fully appreciate that moment and the glorious view. Ah… My fucking beauty!@ “

” Terrestrial Sensors ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” Dancing on the wind… Inertly bending in all directions… weak and powerless, nonetheless, very important. One of the many, terrestrial sensors, constantly gathering new information from the surface of our planet, sending it deep down to the core of the mainframe. They come in different shapes and sizes, but no one really knows how they differ in their functionality. Some people claim that gathered data from our lives is sent directly to the very main CPU. Next, translated and shaped accordingly to what our reality should look like. Funny tiny, fragile antennae if you ask me… and why the hell there are so many of them anyway? It looks like everything is hard-wired. So simple, yet so sophisticated. Can our straightforward thinking ever get us to the point where we fully understand what is going on around us? Is it even possible? Are we capable of such knowledge? Sick tired of all this thinking… I remember grabbing one of those funny wiggly antennae, and shouting straight into it; WHO THE HELL AM I and WHAT AM I DOING HERE~?!! ANSWER ME~!! Unfortunately, I have not received any answer to this day… Perhaps I have grabbed the faulty one… Perhaps, my message has been disrupted by all the rage in my tone? Or maybe I am just mad, and I have been talking to a piece of plant… “

” Happiness Is The Sun ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Sun… so bright, so warm, so happy… Every time it goes down, I want to chase it, and don’t let it drown in horizon. The moment when it goes behind trees and buildings, I can feel the darkness grabbing my shoulders and pulling me down. Even so far away, it is still one of the most important things in our lives. Everything looks so alive and wonderful when it shines. It is not only the sun though. On its own, it is just a bright hot star. Our world in connection with the nature… Our bad with its good, all mixed up. This is what gives such fascinating spectacle. The sick combination of synthetic and natural world. Our human arrogance embedded in the place we do not deserve. There are so many different kinds of pleasure in life… Admiration for what surrounds us, must be one of the most satisfying one, and it doesn’t cost much. Look around, appreciate what you see, hear, feel and taste. Sun… it certainly can make ordinary places look like they come from a fairy tale, don’t you agree? “

” Super Cosy Spot ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Not in direct sunlight but in shadows… not in complete darkness though, my sweet spot lies. Somewhere between those two… Somewhere close, so I can see the transition clearly and derive the best of both worlds. Once the light weakens, the shadow grows stronger, slowly devouring and conquering the lands that originally belonged to it. The war will be over soon enough, but the victory is not permanent, nothing ever is… What you take, must be eventually returned. The light still fights strong, bravely pushing darkness back to its black roots. Futile resistance, yet so noble and admirable. I stand there and observe two of the greatest powers duelling for domination, right in front of my eyes… Me, a mere mortal… and even though I know whose turn to win is this time, it’s still magnificent to be a witness of it. Besides, you can never be certain of anything. I can already feel the chills of darkness on my back, but my eyes are focused on warmth of the light in front of me. Beautiful… isn’t it? Now, the best thing is that I can start moving with the darkness, chasing the light and feel the power of the winner. If I choose to… I can step into the light, and start feeling the dread of annihilation, running away in fear. Everything changes… things once so obvious become mysterious. Familiar shapes start becoming unknown and ominous. Uncertainty… is it really the place where happiness dwells? Or is it the moment when you can choose between two things, but you have still not decided, draining positive energy from the both possible realities at the same time? You know you will have to decide what to choose eventually, losing one thing or another as a result of a decision, but you keep stalling the moment, enjoying the freedom of choice. Is it a freedom? Why do I have to choose? Can I choose not to choose? Where am I going with all this…? It doesn’t matter what hides underneath… Just enjoy it. The very same way, I have enjoyed being at my super cosy spot for that brief moment. “

” Good Afternoon Mr Tree ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Good afternoon to you too, Mr Tree. How are you doing on this fine day? Good to hear, sir… good to hear. Oh, me? I am just fine, thank you. It is such a wonderful weather today, isn’t it? Yes, I completely agree. It really looks like a perfect day, doesn’t it? All those snowy white, puffy clouds in the blue sky, and this refreshing breeze… It is absolutely marvellous. Dear sir, would you mind if I took a photograph of you and these charming surroundings? No… No, not at all. You will fit just perfectly, worry not, sir. A little to the right, please. Hold it! Hold it… Got it~!! Now, that is going to be extraordinary once I return home and develop it, I can feel it. What the f… who the hell was I talking to!? A tree!? I am losing it… I am losing it again, what am I doing… She really crashed us, didn’t she… Way too fast chan… way too fast. We have totally lost the ground under our feet, haven’t we? You should have known better… fast changes are never good, they never are. One thing I will never understand though… How in the hell did she manage to break something already so broken, even more… how? It’s beyond me. Does it mean… I wasn’t broken before? Hmm, doesn’t matter. This tree… it bends like my reality… trying to reach the impossible. Are the things we always wanted really impossible, or are we making them that way? What is really stopping us from what we want in life? Is it reality… or what we create ourselves? The mush of loneliness, doubt, lack of entertainment, sense of direction and happiness, all this… at the same time. Such a bad timing Mr Chan, poor planning, too much emotions… too much of everything. I need my way of life back, my philosophy and beliefs, I need it all back. I don’t want to go back to the same place though, no. I need something different, I need to give myself a chance for something new, I need to know for sure. I can almost hear the voice telling me… Do not try and bend the tree. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realise the truth. What truth? There is no tree. Then you’ll see, that it is not the tree that bends, it is only yourself. “

” Happiness In Duvet ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” I was on my way back home. My legs had already given up on me a long time ago. The pain was unbearable and I was barely able to walk, but even then… I just couldn’t take the shortest way home. I had to check what’s hiding behind all those different block of flats, schools and other buildings, twisting my route more and more. Finally, I saw it. There it was, hanging casually like something totally ordinary and normal. Happily jumping in all directions on a freezing winter wind. There was also a group of people nearby, and I hesitated… I came closer, looked at it… marvellous… Then, I thought it is ridiculous. I am not going to take photographs of someone’s duvet in front of some people… I walked away. After a few steps I stopped. No, I can’t. I came back, took my camera out and started taking photographs from all possible angles. After a month or two, when I have finally reached the photographs from that day… I just couldn’t believe it… All those colourful animals, the snow, the sun, even the wind… it’s all there, the magic has been captured. So much beauty and happiness, trapped in a tiny duvet… I can’t believe I have almost walked away from it… Trust your feelings, let your instinct guide you. Do not let second thoughts confuse you. If you are in search of what’s true and pure… Remember, the first thought is unfiltered, the purest and it comes from the deepest inside of you. Trust it… Follow it… “

” Angry Grandpa ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Angry Grandpa, yup, that’s him. We call this guy so, because he is old and mean to everyone around him. He sits in his garden all day long and looks around with those small but smart eyes, hidden deep under the emotionless eyebrows. A long stretched moustache across his face, successfully covers possible grimace. He doesn’t like kids, nor dogs, as a matter of fact… he doesn’t like anyone except for his other grumpy buddies. They visit him from time to time, they barely speak though, just sit there and stare at nothing together… Some say he remembers the war, others gossip about him being some kind of a hero. All I know for sure, is that he is not nice and he never allows us to play around his place… He has so many interesting things in his backyard… I wish we could go in there and look around some. Unfortunately, it is out of the question… Some say, he likes to plant landmines next to his flowers… I am not eager to find out if it’s true… “
