” Dunno One ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

There are so many artists… Even more people with all sorts of talents… It scares me… It scares me that there are so many amazing individuals the world does not know about? Why? Why do they have to live a life of an unknown? Why some people, very often less talented, climb the ladder of success while the rest, more deserved of that place, have to live a lesser life? It looks like having a talent and knowing about it is just not enough to be out there. You have to make yourself visible. You can’t be famous or even appreciated if the world doesn’t know about your existence. Death is the last scream your personality makes before it vanishes forever. I mean, even if you get all the ovations you can get, but you are still dead, what is it good for? You either make it on time, or it doesn’t matter… Unless you dream about some fame after your departure to another life. The one thing that scares me even more is not finding your real talent before it’s too late, or ever at all. I am genuinely scared of living my life the wrong way. ” Remember, the saddest thing in life is wasted talent. You could have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t do the right thing, then nothing happens. ” – A Bronx Tale (1993)

” A War Of Generations ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

” You cannot stop time… No matter how rich and powerful you are, you just can’t. Generations after generations, they all fight for their own survival. This is how it goes, this is how it was from the very beginning. There are no permanent things. Some last longer while other shorter, but in the end… everything must perish eventually. The fight between generations doesn’t necessarily always have to end in the disappearance of the fallen one. Sometimes they can even coexist in a nice and civilised manner. Every generation has got its own prime time which is eventually replaced with another one, and another one, and so on. Some generations are so tough and resilient, they can withstand almost anything and still coexist with the next following ones. Games, films, cinema, television, internet, consoles, CDs, DVDs, smartphones and so much more, none of it could take books out. They have been around for so long that I don’t think they will ever go away… What is their secret? How come they have survived for so long? Even despite highly digitalised world, they still got masses of admirers. Could it be simplicity? Perhaps… or maybe it is something else. Probably a mixture of things like; nostalgia, simplicity, portability, convenience, deep engagement and many more. Books are simply magical… It is mind-blowing that a piece of paper and some letters stuck together have the power to take you to another reality. Even though I prefer different type of entertainment, I have a mad respect for them. Hopefully this generation will perish as the last one, just for the sake of an ultimate resilience.”

” Pastel Madness ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” Beyond seven mountains, beyond seven rivers… there is a faraway land called, Pastel Madness. The local people living there believe in a very strange legend. Some of them claim that every 8 years a very special event occurs on one of the nearby hills. They say that during that special time you can ask for one thing, and one thing only, that shall be granted to you. It only works for one person so you have to be the first with your wish. It starts like every other sunset but it certainly is not. You can notice it quite easily with its unique delicate pastel-coloured sky. Now the fun part begins… After a short while of standing on the correct hill; oh yes my dear… you have to be lucky enough to stand on the correct hill during that phenomenon as well, you should notice strange winds accosting your body from every possible direction. What is so unique about them, you may ask… Well, what if I told you the winds have the most delicious scents you can possibly imagine, and they change every few seconds too. After the winds, the most interesting part comes along. The air around you supposed to get thicker and thicker. Soon enough, every pastel colour you can see around yourself turns into cotton wool. Different colour, different flavour. All within your arm’s reach, you don’t even have to move to get it, you just grab it straight from the sky. Once you eat enough, the time should stop for 8 seconds; that is the moment when you should shout your wish out. It sound ridiculous, I know… Yet, there are people who believe it so blindly that they are going to sacrifice their lives just to get a chance to make their wish… I’ve heard some crazy stories about people living on the hills, families moving to nearby towns and villages from across the world just to be closer to this allegedly special place, and many many more… I look at the sky, and it indeed look like it’s got this very magical pastel vibe to it… Sure, there was lots of wind going on too, but I didn’t smell anything nice, hmm… Did I get down too quickly? Maybe I was on the wrong hill? Damn it~!! Why do I even bother!? It doesn’t matter. It is just a story for kids. But the sky… there’s something about it… “

” Decoloured ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” What you see, what you feel… sometimes can go two different ways. Everything turns green, blooms, birds happily chirping, frogs croaking, colours have invaded dark and boring places… spring is here. It is warm, very warm, almost summer-like too warm, but the wind is making it all nice. Everything is so cheerful, happy and so damn alive… I am not unhappy or sad… unsettled and a little lost perhaps… I wish I could synchronise better with all beautiful life around me, derive more pleasure and satisfaction from where I am and what I have. Some things are sprouting and growing full of life, others shrivelling up and dying left alone… Spring, the time when yang is aggressively taking back what yin took not such a long time ago… I can see so many beautiful colours, I am so grey inside… I can feel so much life around me, yet I can barely live and feel my own. I can feel I become desaturated even more. The process of decolourisation is eating me alive, corroding my being and mind. Shake it off, shake it off, regain control. Bring the colours back to your life. There is love. “

” Four Brothers ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” Four Brothers have finally come together… It has been decades since they have all met. They all came up from the same parents. They all grew up together. Unfortunately, life have divided their lives and spread them across the globe. Busy with their careers, work and other activities, they rarely even had time to talk to each other. All is past now though… They’re together, close, united once again. So much to share, so much to talk about, get up to speed, make up for all those years of not caring. They have missed each other so much… It is so unfortunate that such sad event had to be the reason for their meeting. Their beloved parents… gone, forever and ever echoing in their painfully shattered minds. They are all sitting silently together now, watching the sun going down and down. It’s nice… Everything has been taken care of, everything has been done. They can finally relax, and slowly learn how to let this go… It’s warm and cosy. The sun is still giving so much warmth, even though it’s so low… It’s so warm and cosy… “

” Colour Bender ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” The legend says, if you mix a number of correct colours you can get one wish, and it can be whatever you want. I have been mixing them for a while now, I have also wished for the same thing many times. See, the problem with my wish is that it may take years or even decades to find out, if it worked or not. I do not lose my hope though. What you see on the photograph here is my latest creation. A very rare arrangement of carefully selected coloured objects. If that didn’t work, I must have been really close with this one. The sun was shining just perfectly, giving it just right amount of little warm haze. The rays of the sun were piercing transparent plastic flesh with high precision, pushing beautiful saturated colours out of their physical form. A pinch of shadows here and there gave it a final touch. I am really impressed. There is something lacking here though, and I can’t pinpoint what it is. Maybe the blue is just not blue enough, hmm. Maybe the angle is not right, hmm let’s see… Oh fuck that plenty~!! I have been arranging some stupid plastic spoons and whatever that is with three pointy fucking things sticking out, moving left and right for more than an hour~!! Sweating my ass for what!? Some stupid thing that is not even real!? Eat it~!! “

” New Year Same Year Every Year ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” I am not gonna lie… I love a New Year’s Eve. I even love it every year. I also hate it, exactly as much as I love it, when the last visible firework fade away in the darkness of night… The short period between two weeks before Christmas and New Year’s Eve, must be my favourite time in a whole year. The energy and the positive aura is amazing. I love to feel that moment when everyone is so focused on their life; preparation, presents, stress and everything else. It feels like everything around me is going at least three times faster than normal, and I just love to observe it from the perspective of my slow and derailed life… People seem to be different at that time as well, I like them that way. The moment when the last firecracker finally disappears from the sky, is also the moment when I get that weird feeling that the clock has been just rested, and everyone is bound to get back to what they have been previously doing, all year round. Another year, another example that your own plans mean nothing to the plans that have been made for you. That night was supposed to be so special, other than all previous ones… Finally someone to share emotions with, a chance to start a new year like never before, but no… I guess it wasn’t meant for me. At least, not just yet. Once again, my life has been adjusted to the path I didn’t choose. Maybe this is what I wanted somewhere deep down… Maybe it saved me from something that wasn’t good for me… Oh well, at least I had a chance to capture this beautiful moment. “

” Block Of Cosiness ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Some people grow up in houses, other in blocks of flats, and some in neither… Just like with everything else in life, each one of us prefers different things. Some people value large spaces with high ceilings and plenty of room around. Others on the other hand, feel more comfortable in smaller and tighter areas. I myself grew up living in a flat. I have moved to a house with my parents, much later on. I like it. But if I will ever need to choose where I want to live alone, I am definitely going back to a block of flats. I really don’t know where all the magic aura is coming from, but I suspect it has something to do with my childhood and nostalgia. It’s just a good memories I think. Every time I walk in some city, I get automatically pulled closer to those buildings. It feels like… well, home I guess… I have found this place on my way back to the car. The light, colours, all those plants and flowers… Man oh man… This place was something else… ideal… I mean, actually I prefer them much taller, but to hell with it… just look at that place… How soothing it must be to sit on one of those benches and just listen to birds while looking at the blue sky… I know, you are probably thinking what’s a big deal with it? Well, every time I see such a beauty, I imagine having my own flat in one of those things I admire so much. My own small and super cosy nest, where I could lock myself up, and peak at the world from a safe distance… through a window of the internet. It would be such a joy to be surrounded by all those people and their families. Seeing children happily playing around, hearing loud neighbours living their busy life, smelling different scents of perfumes and cooked food while walking up and down a stairwell. It is quite amusing though, because I am type of a person that really likes to be alone most of the time, but I still love being around people a lot, weird. I had a hard time moving from that place. I really wanted to stay there and see how it looks like at different times of the day, months and even seasons… Even the sun showed me exactly where to stand in order to fully appreciate that moment and the glorious view. Ah… My fucking beauty!@ “

” Miscellaneous ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited )

” Beautiful interesting miscellaneous embedded in grey and boring matter. If I would be a child now again and saw this in real life, I would be planning and plotting immediately on extracting those gems. I remember when I was a kid, we used to hit similar wall with rocks and other things in order to get some nice pieces of it. There was this fountain located on a military premises, right next to a housing estate where my grandparents live (actually it was the special housing estate for military personnel families), and the wall circling it was made of concrete with embedded colourful glass. There were also three pyramid-like sculptures in the centre of the fountain which also had pieces of colourful glass in them. We used to sneak into military premises to reach this beautiful construction, and of course to get some of those precious jewels. Imagine a bunch of kids hitting old fountain with rocks, smashing it to pieces just to get some slivers of the coloured glass. It must have been such a joyful scene to witness. Of course we knew we are only children and even if soldiers would catch us, we would talked our way out of it. Obviously nobody in their right mind would like to find themselves in such scenario, so when someone spotted us, we ran away faster than wind. After some time, we have found even better spot than the fountain. It turned out, they were liquidating something we had no idea about, maybe another fountain, but there were huge piles of rubble, which also contained plenty of colourful glass that we were mining so persistently. Unfortunately my happiness didn’t last too long… After a few trips to our new discovered place, I cut my hand wide open with one of those precious treasures… it had to be stitched. As far as I remember that was my last journey there… So when I recently saw this little wall with colourful stuff in it, my mind went crazy and took me right back to those carefree times… I think the real fun had finished when we found plenty of what we were trying to get so hard. I think it is true with life in general. If you can get something easily, there is no much of a value to it… “

” Good Night Settlers ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited )

” So, the sun is already comfortably lying in its soft horizon bed… It still has its eyes wide open, but the eyelids are getting heavier and heavier with every minute passing by. It is a matter of short time now, when those bright eyes full of light will get closed for several hours, leaving the town under a dark blanket. People on the other hand are far away from a goodnight sleep. Still busy, still lots of things to finish up before they can snug into their comfy beds. The sky has already started losing its colours, slowly giving up to the inevitable change. The last clouds are soon to be dissolved, leaving nothing but an empty space behind. Wind turbines starting waking up, stretching their arms, warming up, preparing to dance all night. Good night settlers… have a nice and restful night. Time to rest. Close your eyes, let your mind drift away… be free… “
