” Dunno One ” by tgchan ( Sony A6500 + Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 )

There are so many artists… Even more people with all sorts of talents… It scares me… It scares me that there are so many amazing individuals the world does not know about? Why? Why do they have to live a life of an unknown? Why some people, very often less talented, climb the ladder of success while the rest, more deserved of that place, have to live a lesser life? It looks like having a talent and knowing about it is just not enough to be out there. You have to make yourself visible. You can’t be famous or even appreciated if the world doesn’t know about your existence. Death is the last scream your personality makes before it vanishes forever. I mean, even if you get all the ovations you can get, but you are still dead, what is it good for? You either make it on time, or it doesn’t matter… Unless you dream about some fame after your departure to another life. The one thing that scares me even more is not finding your real talent before it’s too late, or ever at all. I am genuinely scared of living my life the wrong way. ” Remember, the saddest thing in life is wasted talent. You could have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t do the right thing, then nothing happens. ” – A Bronx Tale (1993)

” Vegetable Guts ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-F 50mm F2.8 Macro )

” I keep going back and back thinking what is the best food for humans to eat. Should we even know the taste of animals’ meat? I don’t think we are predators, therefore we shouldn’t eat anything that has been killed by us. Just look at our body. We are not designed to kill, not really. We can create and make a great use of tools, but our body? I honestly don’t think nature wanted us to go after other animals. It’s weird… I have been enjoying and eating meat from the beginning of my life. Hmm… let me think. Vegetables, fruits and other things we can get from animals without hurting them; eggs, honey, milk etc., they are all packed with everything we need, and even more. So why do we kill and eat animals as well? Now that really has started me thinking. Can I do it? Can I really go on without any meat? At the moment my answer is; no I can’t. I mean, I don’t want to. Of course I could, if I wanted… But I most definitely will think about it in free time. What advantages it may have? Hmm I wonder. We don’t have big teeth, venom, claws etc., our biggest weapon is our brain. Theoretically speaking, we should have never started eating animals. That’s fucked up…I wonder if this thought will convert me into a vegetarian at some point. I don’t think so… maybe in the next life. But I do believe, eating other animals is a mistake. We are on top of the food chain, yet we behave like we are somewhere in a middle… Maybe we are… Maybe we are bred like hens and other animals, but for a different reason… The reason we have no idea about… Now that makes sense… “

” Show-off ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA* 85mm F1.4 [IF] )

” I don’t know who was managing the sky that night, but I think we can agree that he went way too far with it this time. I mean it is not a fucking canvas, is it!?!… You can’t just paint some abnormal colours and smear them all over people’s head like that, it’s not normal~!! People are not used to see such wonderfulness. I understand that sunset should be spectacular from time to time, but this shit here could cause some serious problems, like; accidents, people trying to get on roofs to get a better view, cars stopping in a middle of a fucking road etc. I mean it’s a serious thing. You can’t just make such a display out of nowhere… No announcement, no previous signs that something like that will happen in future, nothing. Hell yea, let’s just flash that shit out of the blue and see those poor bastards’ reaction… I bet they will go nuts, thinking some kind of fucking apocalypse or aliens are coming. Whoever done this shit should get fired, and some kind of a grand art prize as well, because despite the possible problems it might cause, his work is just plain brilliant~!! Don’t get me wrong, it definitely should have not happened on the sky. It is not his private sheet of paper to doodle around. But yes, I have to agree… dude has got a serious talent. The thing is… people are not meant to see such joyful things. The life should be grey, boring and dark most of the time. People should focus on making money, breeding, thinking about buying another shit they don’t need, and definitely not thinking about beautiful things like that. It may cause them to slow down their lives and wonder; what is their real purpose of existence, why do they chase material things all the time, instead of enjoying simple and free pleasures, or even worse~!! They may even realise that their pathetic everyday and monotonous life is just a cover to propel our machine. We certainly do not want that to happen, do we? Okay… Maybe I was a little too harsh on this guy… I understand. He has a need to vent his artistic creativity somewhere. After all, everyone has got their personal needs, right? Maybe instead of sacking him, they should transfer him to the dream department. Yes, actually it’s a great idea. Move him exactly there. His skills should be perfectly suited to design nice, cosy and beautiful world that exists only in dreams. But in the real world? No fucking way~!! Remember, people are meant to move cogs and not admire what is behind the great curtain. We do not need anything that may cause their thinking go off the track, especially things like the FUCKING RAINBOWY SKY~!! Thanks god he didn’t add bloody flying unicorns to it… Any way, I think we are clear on that. Such pictures are only good for dreams. They make them get up in the morning and give necessary hope, that it will get better one day, but that’s it~!! We don’t actually want to give them what they want, it may fuck up their minds, it’s no good. Remember, just enough to keep them going and hoping for the better, all the way up until they drop dead. Understood!? Dismissed. “

” Amber Gem ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + SMC Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited )

” I had found this amber gem a few minutes before it started to rain. Dark and ominous clouds covered the sky, and just when I was rounding the last block of flats, I found it. I wasn’t sure about it at first… But now, I am glad I had taken out my camera and captured it. There is something about it. The simplicity perhaps? Or the colours? Hmm… maybe the texture of the wall? I don’t know… And even though I am not sure what’s so special about it… I undoubtedly and honestly like it. It is my precious gem. Caught right in the last moment, before everything turned grey. The light itself looks like a little sun, captured in a glass shell. You can almost feel its warmth on your face when you look at it. Liquid magma contained in a carefully polished jewel. My precious treasure… you’re mine now. I keep starring at it, wishing my eyes could see more. Something magnificent has been captured here. I truly cannot get enough of it… but why?~! It is just an ordinary lamp on a building. I love it… I love it so much, and I don’t even know why… I guess it is yet another irony of life. Sometimes you just feel it… There are no words to describe it, nor logical explanation. You just know. You know it’s real and genuine… You can feel it deep down in yourself, living a separate life from your own… Unbiased and far away from any false influence. It just is… “

” Happiness Is The Sun ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” Sun… so bright, so warm, so happy… Every time it goes down, I want to chase it, and don’t let it drown in horizon. The moment when it goes behind trees and buildings, I can feel the darkness grabbing my shoulders and pulling me down. Even so far away, it is still one of the most important things in our lives. Everything looks so alive and wonderful when it shines. It is not only the sun though. On its own, it is just a bright hot star. Our world in connection with the nature… Our bad with its good, all mixed up. This is what gives such fascinating spectacle. The sick combination of synthetic and natural world. Our human arrogance embedded in the place we do not deserve. There are so many different kinds of pleasure in life… Admiration for what surrounds us, must be one of the most satisfying one, and it doesn’t cost much. Look around, appreciate what you see, hear, feel and taste. Sun… it certainly can make ordinary places look like they come from a fairy tale, don’t you agree? “

” Interstellar Suspension ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-5 II s + Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye CS II )

” The clouds froze right in front of my eyes, I could feel air getting thicker and thicker… My body started to feel like it was suspended in water. The change… I could feel it so clearly… Stars aligned, galaxies in a perfect harmony. That moment of an incredible slowdown… Like a bullet caught in a ballistic gelatine, everything stopped in a blink of an eye. What now? I didn’t care about anything… I just kept looking in the sky, trying to see things beyond the clouds. My poor human eyes… they were just not enough. I could still feel it though, not to mention being able to admire the beauty of an incredible display on our terrestrial end of the spectrum. I may not fully understand it, but I know how it affects me. I have walked out from the home sad, but now… I am oversaturated with happiness and joy. I still miss that soft hand I could grab when I need it, hug a soul… but for now… I am okay. So I thank the stars and everything that surrounds me, that I may be happy… even though I know, it is just for a short-lived while… “

” Different Level ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Still beautiful, still colourful and perfectly usable, yet… already cast away. It used to be so high, dancing on wind above everything else, singing with birds and looking at the best sunrises and sunsets his entire life. What happened? What might have he done to deserve such punishment? No more saying hi to white billowy clouds, no more waving to rising Sun and birds flying by, no more looking at the horizon and what it might bring, it is over… Lying in dirt, surrounded with this green and boring bunch… Why oh why do I deserve such a punch!? Ants, worms, puddles and occasional dog pooh! This is ridiculous~! I protest on the hoof~! I do not agree with all that crap. There is no way my mind can withstand all that… Help me before I lose myself… to the point of not coming back. But… to whom am I going to cry it all about? Who will listen to all my quandaries and problems… There is nobody… Time to see the life from a different level… Wait a second… What is this light? How magnificently bright! Look at those colours and shadows, aren’t they marvellous!? Listen, can you hear the music? What is this sorcery? Where is it coming from? How beautiful… Maybe it is not so bad as I thought it was… The smell… so nice and refreshing… God damn… Am I in heaven? I think I am, and to think that I thought I will vanish in this place… I guess, everything depends on how you look at things… or maybe… How long can you last, before you see the light… “

” Curtain ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” After deleting dozens of potential photographs, I have realised how hard it is to find and capture something special. Not that I didn’t know about it, but this time… it hit me really hard. I had deleted more than two hundred files before I found something I could start working with. Wrong angle, too dark, too bright, too low, too high, blurry subject, boring subject etc. Even if everything else is good, sometimes you just cannot get that magic out of it. That something special you have experienced in person, at that particular moment, it is just not there anymore. I can’t say I have wasted my time and money though, I really enjoy my journeys. I am just a little sad, that after so many hours and kilometres, I came back home empty-handed. I should probably stop worrying about the past, unless I have a time machine. I am truly glad, that this green curtain was still there to save my evening, I was really losing my last bits of hope. I would love to go out and hunt for some more treasure, but the current weather is just plain wrong. It supposed to be winter now, but it looks like we have a dark, muddy and gloomy autumn instead. Oh well, I can still enjoy a beautiful sunny weather through my window, with a green leafy curtain… “

” Roofs ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Roofs… they often go unappreciated, unnoticed or being seen from the boring ground level. Climbing on a top floor is always a thrill. First, you have to get into a stairwell. Then, you will have to fight with many steps ahead of you. Very often on the way up, your nose is amused by a different smell on each storey. Finally, once you get on the top level, you might be rewarded with a nice view, that not many people have a chance to glance at. Roofs… they are special, aren’t they? I particularly like the tiled ones, they look like a reptilian skin. Funny enough, they fulfil the same function as well. Coincidence? I don’t think so. There is so much we can learn from the nature. Most, if not all of our greatest technological discoveries, are just merely small scale reflections of what the nature had done centuries ago. She is a great teacher, we are just slow to learn. “

” Why ” by tgchan ( Pentax K-50 + HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro )

” Why do we feel so excited about sunrises and sunsets? Why do we like them so much? Is it the mixture of vibrant colours? Is it because of the illuminated clouds? Why do we think they are so special? Is it the uniqueness we love so much? So many questions, even more thoughts about it. The time when the sun starts going down really fast, is one of my favourite moments in my journeys. When I notice my surroundings are covered in shade, and little to none of the sun is coming through tall buildings and trees, it means it’s time to find a vantage point real quick. I always try to remember nice, tall and accessible buildings I visit on my path, but it doesn’t help much, when they are located a few kilometres away from your current position, especially in a city you do not know. After, at least six hours of constant walking, I am a tad tired, but when this moment comes, I get extra shot of energy and the hunt for a great observation point begins. I am moving extremely fast, trying to spot the tallest nearby block of flats, with its stairwell windows situated in a direction of the vanishing yolk. First, I have to get past an entryphone, then check if the stairwell’s windows open fully, lastly if everything is good, I can climb on the top floor and start the process of capturing. Unfortunately, most of the time there is something in my way… Missing window handle, closed door, blocked view, bad view, window does not open etc. So I rush from building to building, from stairwell to stairwell, in hope that I can make it before it’s too late. I am not going to lie… I have lost many times… but I have also managed to be on time once or twice. Every sunrise and sunset is unique, just like the birth and the death… Maybe this is why we treat them with so many emotions, because they remind us, of our short lived existence… “
